ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY

SUMMARY: Under general supervision, Student Assistant A is responsible for assisting with various tasks. This position is designed to provide opportunities to students to hone customer service skills, team development, and foster professional growth.

SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):

  • Typical duties may include, general office, tutoring, research projects, washing dishes, food preparation, serving food, waiting tables, cashiering, custodial, groundwork, receiving and stocking orders/items.
  • Provide a good balance of technical and people skills with the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Prepare documents/materials as necessary.
  • Possess the ability to deliver a high level of interactive customer service, handle confidential materials appropriately, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high level of accuracy.
  • Assist individuals via phone, email or in person.
  • Assist with special projects.
  • Must be able to communicate regularly with direct supervisor all work status updates as well as task completions.
  • The student office assistant must possess the ability to work well with staff at all levels within a diverse, multi-cultural, collaborative environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently enrolled as a Cal Poly Pomona Student
  • High School Diploma or equivalent general education degree (GED); minimum of 6 months quick service restaurant experience is preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Obtain SERV Safe Certification within 30 days of hire date for individuals handling food items

ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Enterprises offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year. The Enterprises offers positions in various fields; whether it is in the area of technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality1500 management, leadership or research grants, these student employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.
