Job Summary: One temporary hourly-intermittent Sim Tour Assistant position available in the Department of Academic Technology.

About the Cal Poly Maritime Academy:

Cal Poly Maritime Academy is a campus of the California State University and is the only degree-granting maritime academy on the West Coast. Located on the scenic Vallejo waterfront, the campus serves a student population of approximately 1000 undergraduates and 50 graduate students.

Cal Poly Maritime Academy offers seven baccalaureate degrees in Business Administration, International Strategy and Security, Facilities Engineering Technology, Marine Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering,  Marine Transportation, and Oceanography. The undergraduate curriculum includes licensing programs for future merchant marine, coast guard, and naval reserve officers. Cal Maritime also offers a Master of Science in Transportation and Engineering Management degree, as well as a number of extended learning programs and courses.

Job Duties: 

  • Assist with Preview Days, Open House, Special Guest Tours, etc. May require weekend commitments.
  • Report any issues during Sim Tours.
  • Assistance with general use of academic technology tools under guidance of AV staff.
  • Support the Senior Director and AV specialists with coordinating and organizing sim tours.
  • Familiarity and comfort level with sim and customer-service oriented. Commitment to remain flexible, open, and willing to learn.
  • Assist in developing communications, graphics, and presentations for projects related to academic technology.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrate strong communication, organizational and computer skills.
  • Customer-service skills and knowledge of Cal Maritime.
  • Demonstrate general knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
  • It is preferred, but not required, that the incumbent has experience with the simulations.
