Job description

NCMA Cafe is looking for an experienced Counter Server and Bartender to provide outstanding guest service by handling all counter bar operations, including fulfilling orders for all barista drinks, food orders, and all alcoholic beverages. This role also supports the cafe’s wine program through informed wine service, presentations, tastings, and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities

Counter Services
  • Greet every guest with a warm, welcoming, and attentive attitude
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of all barista drinks, modifiers, and specialty beverages in order to offer informed suggestions
  • Maintain full knowledge of all café menu items to accurately fulfill togo orders
  • Prepare mixed beverages
  • Seamlessly transition between guestfacing counter service and preparing beverages for inhouse dining.
  • Operate the Square POS system efficiently and accurately
  • Follow standard cash handling procedures with precision
  • Provide general support during busy periods, including running food, bussing tables, and assisting
  • with guest seating as needed

    Guest Service & Wine Education

  • Assist guests with wine selections, including pairing suggestions and storytelling behind each wine
  • Maintain extensive working knowledge of all wines offered; stay current with wine trends, including attending vendor tastings when possible
  • Educate the service team on new and existing wines to support overall cafe knowledge and selling ability.
  • Support possible future development of winerelated programs
  • Support Catering Works winebased experiences at NCMA
  • Ideal Candidate Qualities
  • Experience with bartending, cash handling and guest services is a must
