The Blake’s Orchard Inc. Cafe Team Member is an essential part of our walk-up food service destinations on the farm. This role is responsible for preparing and serving food orders in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment, as well as processing transactions at the point of sale. Cafe Team Members are expected to deliver friendly, efficient service while maintaining a clean and safe food preparation area. Whether working the grill, operating the fryer, or ringing up guests at the counter, the Cafe Team Member plays a vital role in ensuring every guest leaves satisfied and well-fed.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Prepare food items accurately and in a timely manner according to established recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards
  • Operate the grill safely and proficiently, cooking items to proper temperature and doneness
  • Operate the deep fryer safely and proficiently, following correct oil temperature, timing, and food handling procedures
  • Monitor food quality throughout preparation, ensuring all items served meet the cafe’s standards for taste and presentation
  • Always follow proper food handling and storage procedures, including safe thawing, cooling, and holding temperatures
  • Communicate order status to teammates and guests to ensure accurate and timely fulfillment
  • Greet guests at the counter with a friendly and welcoming attitude
  • Take food orders accurately, confirming selections and communicating any wait times or item availability
  • Answer guest questions about menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods to the best of your ability
  • Process guest payments accurately using the point-of-sale system, handling cash, card, and other accepted payment methods
  • Provide correct change and receipts as applicable, maintaining accuracy in all transactions
  • Notify guests when their order is ready and ensure it is handed off correctly and completely
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines, including proper handwashing, glove use, and cross-contamination prevention
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout the shift, including the grill, fryer, prep surfaces, and counter areas
  • Assist with cleaning duties including wiping down equipment, sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing surfaces
  • Report any food safety concerns, equipment issues, or potential hazards to a supervisor immediately
  • Support fellow Cafe Team Members during busy periods to maintain smooth and efficient operations
  • Always represent the farm with professionalism and a positive attitude

Education, Skills & Knowledge

  • Friendly, energetic personality with a commitment to delivering excellent guest service
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume food service environment
  • Comfortable working in a warm kitchen environment with exposure to heat from grills and fryers

Working Conditions


This is a seasonal position based in our indoor/outdoor walk-up food service areas on the farm. Team Members should be prepared to work in a warm kitchen environment and may also be exposed to outdoor elements depending on the cafe’s layout and setup.
