Job SummaryDDS seeks an Office Survey Technician for a primarily office-based role in West Henrietta, NY, with occasional field work. This entry- to mid-level position focuses on CAD drafting, deed research, and supporting boundary, topographic, and utility surveys. Using AutoCAD Map 3D with Carlson Survey, youll draft maps, perform quality control, and assist with basic legal descriptions. Reporting to the Senior Project Surveyor, youll collaborate with licensed surveyors, field crews, CAD drafters, and engineers. A Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license is not required; 2+ years of survey experience or an associate degree in land surveying is essential, with strong CAD skills and a willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft survey maps and plats using AutoCAD Map 3D with Carlson Survey, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project standards.
  • Conduct deed research to support boundary survey deliverables, assisting with basic plat preparation.
  • Perform minor computations, such as importing field data, to support survey workflows.
  • Assist with basic legal descriptions (e.g., metes and bounds) for boundary surveys.
  • Perform quality control on field data to ensure accuracy for CAD integration.
  • Occasionally support field crews with tasks like site verification or quality checks.
  • Collaborate with licensed surveyors, field crews, CAD drafters, and engineers (Land Development and Energy Services Groups) to meet project deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and adhere to DDS quality standards.

Skills and Experience

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of land surveying experience or an associate degree in land surveying.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Map 3D, Carlson Survey, or other AutoCAD versions for CAD drafting.
  • Familiarity with boundary, topographic, or utility survey processes.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work in a team.
  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record for occasional field work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with MicroStation, Bentley OpenRoads, Leica Register 360, or Pix4D.
  • Certified Survey Technician (CST) or FAA Part 107 sUAV certification.
