Part-time CAD technicians create project outlines and blueprints using computer-aided design software under the supervision of a project designer or engineer. Unlike full-time employees, part-time CAD technicians work thirty hours or less a week. Your job duties include sketching assembly or manufacturing drawings for machinery, buildings, and construction; revising and updating current plans; and reviewing blueprints to verify safety standards and regulations. Your responsibilities also include coordinating with engineers and clients to ensure all specifications are correct and that they meet client expectations. Part-time CAD technicians work in many different industries, including civil engineering, architecture, and electrical engineering. Some specialize in one field while others work in several industries.
