Job description

Position Title: Counseling Assistant Professor

Reports To: Chair, Counseling Department

Department: Counseling

FLSA Status: Exempt

Employment Status: Full-time, tenure-track, 9-month appointment

Pay Cycle: 12 Months

Position Summary: Mount Mary University is seeking an individual to join our community and contribute to the realization of our Mission through the role of Assistant Professor in Counseling. We are a community of faculty who value relationships with our students and colleagues. We are committed to a compassionate and effective graduate education for our students. This tenure-track position is comprised of 100% teaching load in counseling courses or other courses consistent with practice experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Teach graduate counseling courses
  • Contribute to continuous and systematic program assessment
  • Serve as a resource for faculty members and other program areas
  • Serve on faculty assembly and All-University committees
  • Provide service to the institution and the community
  • Engage in ongoing scholarship and professional activity (research, publications, presentations)
  • Advise, mentor, and supervise master's and/or Ph.D. level students
  • Serve as a member on doctoral dissertation committees
  • Maintain compliance and ensure program quality with CACREP accreditation standards
  • Complete annual data collection and dissemination of CACREP competency benchmarks
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned
  • To carry out the duties and responsibilities of a faculty member as delineated in the Faculty Handbook

Skills and Experience:

  • Doctoral degree from a CACREP accredited program in Counselor Education and Supervision.
  • Teaching and supervision experience required
  • Eligible for the Licensed Professional Counselor or School Counseling credential
  • Evidence of appropriate licenses and/or certification
  • Ability to teach two or more of the eight CACREP core areas preferred
  • Ability to supervise doctoral-level research
  • Experience in school counseling preferred
  • Demonstration of professional involvement
  • Evidence of scholarly publications and related scholarly work preferred
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of established professional code of ethics and best practices
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills including the ability to work with diverse groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of professional and community groups
