What is CACREP?
What is the difference between Cacrep vs Licensed Professional Counselor?
| Criteria | CACREP | Licensed Professional Counselor |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | Accreditation for counseling programs | State licensure after completing education and supervised experience |
| Work Environment | Educational institutions, counseling programs, supervision roles | Private practice, mental health clinics, schools |
| Industry Usage | Program accreditation standard | Licensed practitioner providing counseling services |
While CACREP is an accreditation for counseling programs ensuring quality education, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) is a credential obtained after completing education, supervised experience, and licensure requirements. CACREP accreditation supports LPC eligibility, but they are distinct: CACREP relates to program standards, whereas LPC is a professional license to practice counseling.
