What is CACREP?

CACREP stands for the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs. It is a specialized accrediting body that reviews and accredits graduate-level counseling programs in the United States and abroad. Programs accredited by CACREP meet strict educational and professional standards, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for careers in counseling. Having a degree from a CACREP-accredited program can be important for licensure and employment opportunities in the counseling field.

What careers benefit from CACREP programs?

CACREP programs prepare students for careers in counseling, including school counselors, mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists, and substance abuse counselors. These programs provide foundational knowledge, clinical training, and often require certification or licensure to practice professionally.
