Job description

Job Purpose

The Part Time Server role is the most important role in delivering best in class dining experience, as they are the first and last contact with Residents and have the ability to resolve any service issues as they arise. A Server’s responsibility is attending to diners before, during and after their meals by helping them place and receive their orders. They also ensure the timely delivery of food and beverages by checking on their tables periodically throughout the service period.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greets customers.
  • Takes food and drink orders from customers and answers questions about menu items.
  • Relays customers’ orders to other kitchen staff.
  • Serves food and drinks to customers.
  • Cleans assigned work areas, such as dining tables or serving counters.
  • Stocks service stations, cabinets, and tables.
  • Sets tables or prepare food stations for new customers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
  • Previous food service experience is preferred.
  • Excellent listening skills and detail oriented.
  • Able to ask appropriate questions to deliver the best service possible.
  • Experience in a hospitality, healthcare or service environment is preferred.
  • Ability to lift and/or move objects up to 40 pounds.


Working Conditions

The Server works in a dining room and spends most of their shift on their feet. They carry trays of food, dishes, or glassware, which are often heavy. During busy dining periods, the server position are under pressure to serve customers quickly and efficiently.
