School-Based Therapist (Licensed) - Cabarrus County, NC
Company: Carolinas Creative Counseling, PA
Location: Cabarrus County, North Carolina
Position Type: Contractor
Position Overview
Carolinas Creative Counseling, PA is expanding our school-based mental health services in partnership with Cabarrus County Schools. We are seeking compassionate, motivated, and clinically skilled mental health professionals who are licensed in North Carolina and reside in Cabarrus County or surrounding counties.
This position provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by delivering behavioral health services directly within the school setting. Therapists will collaborate with school personnel, families, and community partners to support students' emotional, behavioral, and social well-being while helping remove barriers to academic success.
We are seeking clinicians who are comfortable working independently, managing a caseload, and building strong collaborative relationships with school staff and outside agencies.
Responsibilities
  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy services to students in the school setting.
  • Complete comprehensive behavioral health assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and Medicaid-compliant clinical documentation.
  • Coordinate care with parents, guardians, school personnel, physicians, and other community providers.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with school staff regarding student needs.
  • Communicate effectively with referral sources and internal clinical leadership.
  • Monitor client progress and modify treatment interventions as clinically appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA, FERPA, Medicaid, and agency policies.
  • Participate in supervision, trainings, and staff meetings as required.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Active North Carolina license in good standing (LCMHC, LCMHC-A, LCSW, LCSW-A, LMFT, LMFT-A, or Licensed Psychologist, as applicable).
  • Eligible to provide mental health services within the state of North Carolina.
  • Reside in Cabarrus County or an adjacent county.
  • Excellent clinical assessment, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Reliable transportation for travel between school locations when necessary.

Preferred:
  • Previous experience providing school-based behavioral health services.
  • Knowledge of Medicaid documentation and billing requirements.
  • Experience collaborating with schools, community agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with interagency and intra-agency workflows.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, and families.

Schedule
Therapists must be available to dedicate a minimum of 15 hours per week during school operating hours:
  • Monday-Friday
  • Between 7:30 AM and 3:30 PM

Additional hours may be available based on caseload and clinician availability.
