We are looking for a full-time CNC Plasma & Water Jet Operator at our Riverview Blvd location in Tonawanda NY. This is an onsite position that is responsible for the efficient setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC plasma and waterjet cutting machines. This role involves setting up the machine, performing routine maintenance, operating cranes and forklifts to move materials, assisting with material inventory audits, and ensuring the quality of the cut products.


Job responsibilities:

  • Machine Setup & Operation: Calibrate and operate CNC plasma and waterjet machines.
  • Technical Reading: Interpret blueprints, technical drawings and job specifications.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot issues and clean machines.
  • Material Handling: Load and unload raw materials using overhead cranes or forklifts.
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished parts for accuracy, ensuring they meet strict tolerances. Verify correct quantity of parts are produced.
  • Safety & Compliance: Maintain a clean work environment, adhere to safety procedures and use appropriate PPE.
  • Helps identify new and better processes
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment operating plasma/waterjet/ laser machinery.
  • Understanding of material types, grades and marking requirements.
  • Ability to perform basic shop math including addition, subtraction and conversions of decimals to fractions/ fractions to decimals.
  • Proficient in using precision measuring tools and equipment including tape measures, calipers and micrometers.
  • Competent use all shop machinery, including, but not limited to: Drill press, band saw, ironworker, shear handheld plasma cutter and oxygen acetylene torch.

Preferred experience:

  • Prior experience working with ASME standards for processing materials.
  • Use of AutoCAD software, CAD/CAM software.
  • Machine programming experience.
  • Messer or Flow machine brand experience.
  • CNC Press brake experience.
  • Plate roll experience.
