Job description

OGS Machining is a CNC Job Shop that is currently looking for a full-time CNC Mill Setup/Operator position for Night Shift. Standard shop hours are (4) ten-hour days – Mon-Thurs. 3:30PM – 2:00am, with occasional overtime on Fridays as needed.

OGS Machining is a medium-volume, production job shop whose average machining order is 100 - 500 pcs. 75% of our jobs are made from bar stock with the remaining 25% are machining castings or billet. All parts can easily be held in your hand, no cranes or material handling equipment are necessary. The majority of our CNC turning equipment is less than 4 years old, and state-of-the-art.

Job Summary

Responsible for set-up, occasional program editing (at the controls) and operation of vertical mills for production.

Essential Functions

  • Setup mills for production machining.
  • Prove out and inspect first piece for each setup.
  • Troubleshoot, edit, and optimize existing programs to ensure efficient overall production (most of our programming is done at the control via G-code).
  • Document new program changes and processes to ensure setups can be duplicated and overall production time is optimized.
  • Oversee the quality of parts produced in the machining cell.
  • To be proactively aware of work load and plan tooling requirements for future jobs ensuring minimum downtime
  • To make most efficient use of machinery and equipment, including the use of proper feeds and speeds, cutter compensation and modern programming strategies.
  • Inspect and deburr parts to ensure they meet blueprint specifications using proper measuring instruments. Take ownership of the quality of parts you produce.
  • Help produce jigs and fixtures that improve productivity
  • Use skill and caution to prevent damage to machinery and equipment (crashes, etc)
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance on machinery, and keep your work area clean and tidy.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.
