Day-to-day, this person will work closely with electrical and mechanical crews to install and terminate control wiring, calibrate field instruments, and support commissioning of BMS/EPMS and related monitoring systems. This role plays a direct part in ensuring the facility's critical infrastructure - power, cooling, and life safety systems - is properly monitored and controlled before turnover. The I&C Tech will report to the site Controls/Commissioning Lead and coordinate regularly with electricians, mechanical fitters, and commissioning engineers on-site. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, comfortable reading control drawings and loop diagrams, and interested in growing their career within mission-critical construction.

  • Calibrate and test field instruments (temperature, pressure, flow, level sensors) to ensure accurate readings
  • Support installation and point-to-point checkout of BMS/EPMS control panels and devices
  • Troubleshoot wiring, calibration, and communication issues during startup and commissioning
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, and control schematics
  • Coordinate with electrical and mechanical trades to sequence I&C work around other site activities
  • Document calibration results, punch list items, and completed checkouts for the commissioning team
  • Communicate progress and issues to the Controls/Commissioning Lead and site management
  • Maintain compliance with site safety protocols and project quality standards

Required Experience/Skills
  • 2+ years of experience as an Instrumentation & Controls Technician, preferably in data center, industrial, or mission-critical construction
  • Working knowledge of control wiring, instrument calibration, and loop checkout procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, control drawings, and electrical schematics
  • Familiarity with BMS/EPMS platforms (e.g., Niagara, Metasys, or similar)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in an active construction environment with cross-functional trades
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety

Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience specifically on data center or hyperscale construction projects
  • NICET certification or equivalent instrumentation credential
  • Familiarity with commissioning processes (Level 3/4/5) on critical facilities
  • Experience with fire/life safety or building automation systems
  • OSHA 10/30 certification

Education
High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training or associate degree in Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, or a related field preferred.
Pay & Benefits Summary
  • Competitive hourly pay, commensurate with experience
  • Health, dental, and vision benefits
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off
  • Opportunity for long-term placement and career growth within data center construction
