Job Description:

The Protection and Control (P&C) Technologist Reports to the Manager, P&C Telecom North within the Field Ops – P&C Tech N team.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Operate, inspect, and maintain substation equipment associated with the Altalink transmission system.
  • Provide maintenance planning, schedulers, and Altalink Control Center staff with information regarding equipment status and recommend improvements or replacements.
  • Trouble response for Protection & Control equipment in the area.
  • Assist and support other disciplines as required.
  • Demonstrate key behaviors and meet identified expectations outlined in our four cultural pillars – one team, continuous improvement, customer focus and personal accountability.

Qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma from a recognized technical school.
  • Proven ability/experience in above noted responsibilities.
  • SCADA experience would be an asset for this position.
  • Ability and willing to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Knowledge and adherence to safety practices, procedures, and standards required.
  • Be competent and comfortable working with computers and spreadsheets.
  • Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communications skills (verbal and written).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to build rapport.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to work within strict deadlines.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers to promote positive customer outcomes. .
  • Demonstrate a willingness to work safely and show concern for environmental, health and safety issues in the workplace.
  • Willing to accept out of town working conditions.
  • Have a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • Capable of passing the physical fitness and medical requirements.
  • Proven track record of good attendance and performance.
