Description

SAIC is seeking a Software Test Engineer to join The Theater High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) program in Huntsville, AL.

The Theater High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) Interoperability Section of the THAAD Evaluation Center (TEC) is seeking candidates for a Sr. Test Engineer position in the team.  The position involves duties on the THAAD Weapon System, particularly interface testing of the THAAD Fire Control Component (TFCC) and its various subsystems.

The Test Engineer will provide technical expertise to the THAAD Interoperability teams’ effort to test and certify TFCC software versions through the life cycle of the weapon system.  Support for this effort includes the testing activities associated with THAAD internal/developmental tests, preliminary testing of the Common Data Link Interface Module (CDLIM) software product in THAAD, the THAAD Army Service Level Test, US Army Interoperability tests, Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Ground and Flight test and the Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Interoperability Tests of the TFCC Link 16 interface.  Duties include the operation of the TFCC, multiple data link simulation tools, analytical tools, analysis of collected Link 16 messages and the development of test documentation (test plans, test procedures and test reports). 

Duties include:

  • Analyzing Requirements.
  • Test development, execution, analysis and reporting.
  • Authoring Documentation.
  • Generating Trouble Reports.
  • Supporting external customers.
  • Maintaining deployed systems.
  • Testing Hardware/Software.

Qualifications

Education Requirements: 

  • Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Candidates must be able to obtain a full Secret clearance. Interim Secret clearance required to start; US Citizenship required.

Required Skills:

  • Experience with the execution of test programs for Department of Defense programs is desired.
  • Ability to develop and author documentation to be distributed to customers, stakeholders, and end users.  Experience with MS Office products is desired.
  • Must be proficient acting in small teams, as well as coordinating and communicating customer requirements.
  • This position has a requirement to travel, usually no more than one (1) to two (2) weeks within a calendar year.
  • Any experience with US Army Air and Missile Defense Fire Control systems such as THAAD, Patriot, C-RAM and the Air Defense Command Post (ADCP) deployed in Air Defense Command and Control (C2) nodes.

Desired Skills:

  • Any experience with the Common Data Link Interface (CDLI) in either the Patriot or THAAD configuration.
  • Any experience with automated data collection/data analysis tools, such as NSITE, or data link simulation tools such as the IES, or the Northup Grumman MLST3 simulator.
  • Any experience with the Missile Defense Agency’s Ground Test program and associated MDA systems such as Aegis or Ground Based Mid-Course Defense (GMD), etc.
  • Any experience with the Solaris and Linux operating systems, at the user level.
