Permanent (continuing faculty status) professional track position in journalism and sports media with emphasis on editorial content in news and sports, including research, writing, editing, photography, videography, podcasting, social media and other forms of mass media communication.

Required Degree:
A terminal degree in one's field is required, including Ph.D., M.F.A., Ed.D., J.D., or other as appropriate according to the discipline.
The required degree must be completed by the start date.
Experience:
A minimum of five years professional experience in news, sports media or related field is required, though preference will be given to qualified candidates with 10 years professional experience.
Duties/Expectations:
Teaching 8 to 9 classes per academic year (fall, winter, spring/summer) in the journalism and sports media sequence as well as potentially the School of Communications core, electives and graduate courses. Specific teaching assignments depend on the candidate's qualifications and School needs. The position will also include involvement in the Daily Universe and Universe Lab newsrooms and news and sports media profession. The successful candidate will be able to teach courses in news and sports research, reporting, and production of editorial content for online, magazine and documentary video. Faculty are expected to follow established curricula and assist in assessing the effectiveness of teaching to accomplish program outcomes.
Mentoring Expectation: In addition to teaching, faculty responsibilities include citizenship and mentoring students on creative works. The successful candidate will maintain a productive student-mentoring agenda and will actively participate in the School, College and University committees and other activities. Appointment will be at assistant or associate professor rank according to the candidate's qualifications and experience.
