JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective
Under the general guidance of the Production Manager and the Director of Finance, the Buyer reviews and analyzes purchase requisitions. Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner. Processes purchase requisitions, purchase change orders and requests for quotes to suppliers. Responsible for procurement business system data input and integrity.

Essential Functions

  • Increases the effectiveness and efficiency of Materials Management (Purchasing, Shipping, Receiving, Warehousing) and Service and Support areas through improvements to each function as well as coordination and communication between functions
  • Manages sourcing activities to identify and establish relationships with suppliers
  • Develop key supplier relationships to support collaborative and partnering initiatives
  • Assist in Creating, developing and implementing supply chain strategies for competitive costs and supplier execution excellence
  • Manages the issuance of purchase orders, ensuring the inclusion of required specifications, prices, terms and conditions by performing the duties personally or through assistant personnel
  • Maintain and report current shortages and due dates
  • Captures and reports supply chain metrics
  • Procure material to meet on-time requirements and avoid negative fiscal impact to schedules due to delays or cancellations
  • Creates quotes for Business Development as needed
  • Participate in cross functional teams, meetings, and activities

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • Effective planning, organization, and time management skills
  • Proven written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills
  • Information technology skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and MRP/ERP systems
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • Understanding/Experience in High Mix purchasing activities which include purchase of custom PWB, CCA, Machined componentry as well as working with Distributors and OEMs
  • Familiar with Contract manufacturing and Outside Processing activities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Travel
This position requires 0-5% travel.

Required Education and Experience

  1. 3+ years’ experience in purchasing, Military and Aerospace Electronics experience a plus or equivalent education and experience.
  2. Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business, Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, or closely related program
  3. Excellent project management skills

Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Must be a U.S. Persons and able to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance
