Job Summary:
Performs a variety of purchasing assignments to procure supplies, raw materials, parts and assemblies necessary for operation of the organization. Checks requisitions, contacts vendors, examining bids, exercises judgment, ingenuity and good work knowledge of materials and sources of supply to make purchases at prices consistent with quality and quantity specifications.
Essential Functions:
  • Develop purchase contracts for materials, subcontracts, and services using purchasing database.
  • Expedite purchase orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Purchase materials in a manner to help ensure overall profitability of the company.
  • Possess an attitude of continuous improvement.
  • Disposition of all non-conforming material receipts and invoices
  • Reconcile purchases against accounts payable for job cost reviews.
  • Liaison between vendor and company
  • Maintain a safe and compliant work environment

Marginal Functions:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must develop and maintain strong relationships with team members, customers, and vendors.
  • Possess interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.

Minimum Requirements:
High School education or GED required. Two years related experience.
Essential Mental Functions:
Must understand vague and implicit instructions and react favorably in all work situations. Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people. Is frequently called upon to handle difficult situations. Must be able to communicate providing feedback in a professional manner. Must be able to answer questions in a professional and friendly manner. Requires occasional public contact. Must be able to handle stressful situations in a professional manner.
Essential Physical Functions:
Requires sitting for prolonged periods. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, printers, etc. Requires ability to give and receive communication to different levels of the organization.
Safety Requirements:
  • Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others.
  • Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all the employer's safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.
