What are buy side jobs?

Buy side jobs are positions at firms that purchase securities and other financial assets for investment purposes, such as mutual funds, pension funds, hedge funds, and private equity firms. Professionals in these roles analyze investment opportunities, manage portfolios, and make decisions to maximize returns for their clients or fund. Unlike the sell side, which focuses on selling and trading securities, the buy side is primarily concerned with investing capital. Common buy side roles include portfolio managers, research analysts, and traders. These positions require strong analytical skills, financial knowledge, and an understanding of market trends.
