Business Intelligence Analyst to join our team in our
Chicago office and serve our association management client organization, the International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading (ISTAT).

ISTAT is seeking a curious, analytical, and collaborative Business Intelligence Analyst to help transform organizational data into meaningful business intelligence that supports better decision-making across the organization.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Business Intelligence Analyst will collect, organize, analyze, and visualize data from multiple business systems to develop interactive dashboards, reports, and analytical tools that support membership, conferences, sponsorship, education, and executive reporting. Working closely with the Executive Director and colleagues across the organization, the Analyst will help turn business questions into intuitive dashboards and actionable insights while continuously improving data quality, reporting processes, and organizational intelligence.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, building interactive dashboards, learning new technologies, leveraging AI to improve productivity, and continuously finding better ways to organize and present information. What You Will Do
Business Intelligence & Dashboard Development
- Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI, AI, and other tools.
- Design dashboards that support membership, conferences, sponsorship, education, and executive reporting.
- Continuously improve dashboards to make information more accessible, interactive, and useful for decision-making.
- Work closely with the Executive Director and staff to translate business questions into meaningful reports and visualizations.
- Produce recurring and ad hoc reports for staff, volunteer committees, senior leadership, and the Board of Directors.
Data Management & Reporting
- Collect, organize, validate, and maintain data from multiple organizational systems.
- Help improve data quality by identifying duplicate, incomplete, or inconsistent information.
- Develop reporting standards that promote consistency and accuracy across the organization.
- Serve as ISTAT's primary resource for organizational reporting and data quality.
- Partner with the Information Technology team to support reporting requirements, data integrations, and ongoing data improvement initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with colleagues across Membership, Conferences, Sponsorship, Education, Marketing, Finance, and other functional areas to understand reporting needs and develop practical solutions.
- Support volunteer committees by developing dashboards and reports that facilitate informed discussions and decision-making.
- Provide guidance to colleagues on available dashboards, reporting capabilities, and data visualization tools.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Continuously evaluate reporting processes and recommend opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and usability.
- Leverage AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies to improve productivity, accelerate analysis, and develop innovative reporting solutions.
- Independently research technical challenges, identify practical solutions, and continuously expand technical knowledge.
- Stay informed about new capabilities in Microsoft Power BI, AI-enabled analytics, and business intelligence technologies.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Statistics, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Three or more years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, reporting, or a related analytical role.
- Experience developing interactive dashboards using Microsoft Power BI.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including working with large datasets.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality work.
- Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and the ability to independently research technical challenges, learn new technologies, and develop practical solutions.
- Enthusiasm for leveraging AI-enabled tools to improve productivity, reporting, and business intelligence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Power Query, DAX, or similar data transformation and reporting tools.
- Experience creating interactive reports and visualizations that communicate complex information in a clear and intuitive manner.
- Experience working with multiple business systems and integrating data from different sources into centralized dashboards

Smithbucklin is a hybrid work environment with in-office days established as Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Employees will work a standard 40-hour week, with the possibility of additional hours based on project deadlines.
Smithbucklin considers several factors when determining compensation, including a candidate's recent coursework, training, experience, and certifications, among other considerations. The expected pay for this role is $59,000-63,000.
