What is a Director - Finance?

Our company is a regulated utility with $1 billion in annual revenues, $2.8 billion in rate base, $350 million in annual capital expenditures, $315 million in O&M costs (excluding commodity costs), and a workforce of approximately 1,275 employees. We are seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Finance to lead our financial planning and analysis function.

What does a Director - Finance do?

  • Leads the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) function, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning

  • Develops and implements capital/financial planning strategies, and investment prioritization aligned with customer value, corporate objectives and regulatory obligations

  • Supports Rate Case development and regulatory filings with robust financial analysis and documentation

  • Communicates strategic financial insights and recommendations to the executive team supported by external insights with a focus on delivering robust commercial outcomes

  • Oversees driver-based financial modeling, scenario analyses, and performance management across business units

  • Be a trusted partner with operations, regulatory affairs, and other departments to align and drive financial plans with operational goals

  • Drives finance transformation initiatives including process improvements and technology adoption

  • Leads and mentors the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, business engagement, and accountability

  • Provides support for storm restoration efforts

What does it take to be a Director - Finance?

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field and 7+ years of relevant experience. Equivalent combination of education and professional experience may be considered.

  • Proven finance leader with demonstrated experience guiding teams and influencing decision-making at a senior level

  • Strong capabilities in financial modeling, forecasting, and performance management, with the ability to apply these tools in complex business environments

  • Experience working in regulated or capital intensive industries, with an understanding of capital planning, long term investment decision-making, and regulatory or compliance considerations

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a track record of translating complex financial information into clear insights for non financial and executive audiences

  • Familiarity with regulated, capital intensive, or highly governed industries or demonstrated ability to quickly develop fluency in regulatory frameworks, capital planning, and compliance considerations

  • Experience in regulated industries, preferably utilities or energy, with an understanding of utility finance, capital planning, and regulatory frameworks.

  • Valid driver's license

Preferred:

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align finance with long-term business goals

  • Technologically fluent and data-driven decision maker

  • Collaborative leader with cross-functional influence, high integrity and a commitment to transparency
