What You Will Do:

Guidehouse's Commercial Strategy team within our Energy Providers practice are looking for an Associate Director to join our team. Your work will focus on supporting the leadership of electric and gas utilities as they look to solve their highest priority challenges, predominantly in and around new commercial and operating models to navigate the changing energy landscape. You will be the project lead on engagements serving clients operating in the US as they grapple with the complex energy transformation journey. This Associate Director role requires a knowledge of the utilities/energy industry with demonstrated problem-solving and relevant strategy consulting skills.

Key Client Responsibilities:

  • Understand your client’s business challenges as they look to complete the energy transition
  • Own and develop client relationships within the utilities industry and adjacent industries
  • Support the strategy, design, and delivery of project workstreams 
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings with clients and their stakeholders
  • Prepare and communicate solutions through well-organized, effective reports and presentations to clients
  • Engage in the business development process with the ability to deliver documentation and requests for proposals

Key Project Lead Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage day-to-day internal team across multiple workstreams
  • Foster feedback culture through coaching and mentoring others on the project team to ensure quality analysis and deliverables
  • Provide input to project directors and partners in an open and collaborative environment to help guide project delivery on a technical and strategic level
  • Demonstrate strong facilitation skills through the leading of workshops with an ability to communicate complex information comfortably and clearly
  • Understand and develop key strategy storylines throughout the lifecycle of project engagements
  • Develop business models utilizing numerous inputs to complete the analysis of multiple scenarios
  • Demonstrate a refined understanding of organizational structures and have experience overseeing the development of target operating models
  • Complete detailed and thorough strategy roadmaps that ensure effective and efficient implementation
  • Identify and understand how macro trends, competition, and regulatory environments influence strategy development for utilities

What You Will Need:

  • Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident due to nature of client engagement
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, business, economics, environmental, science or related discipline AND Seven (7+) plus years of relevant post-graduation industry or consulting experience; Or Master's degree in an engineering, business, economics, environmental, science or related discipline AND Five (5+) plus years of relevant post-graduation industry or consulting experience
  • Strategy background from an equivalent consulting firm with a preference in the utilities industry
  • Deep understanding of business and project management fundamentals
  • Proven business development experience, with a track record of selling and delivering work within the utilities or energy industry
  • Advanced experience creating and developing business and financial models in Microsoft Excel
  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint, with comfort leveraging AI-tools to enhance workflow
  • Proven problem-solving skills with ability to quickly process complex information and present it clearly and simply
  • Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously and deliver against tight deadlines in fast-paced and demanding environments
  • Experience in developing and delivering presentations to executive audiences
  • Track record of leading and managing teams effectively
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly developed organizational and management skills
  • An inquisitive nature and desire for continuous improvement
  • Tireless attention to detail in all prior experience (academic and professional)
  • Ability to travel weekly as required
  • Ability to work onsite in a Guidehouse Office or Client Office location 1-3 days per week

The annual salary range for this position is $149,000.00-$248,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
