Job description

BUSINESS SERVICES ASSOCIATE
Commercial Alliance provides a comprehensive suite of lending services designed to help credit unions succeed with business members across six states. The Business Services Associate will assist the Commercial Support team and Manager with the overall intake, underwriting, and operational processes. Provide customer service to our online and branch channels, enhance the renewal process while working with the portfolio support team, and deliver results where needed to drive the business services team. Maintain a robust and complete pipeline and collaborate with the Business Services Manager to determine priority and support as needed in an effort to provide effective and efficient outcomes as well as meet customer needs and regulatory obligations.
This is a hybrid position based in either Troy, Michigan, or Loveland, Ohio.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Partner with the Business services manager to align responsibility with prioritized needs and embrace learning opportunities
  • Manage relationships with online and branch channels through their loan requests, opportunities, and ancillary products
  • Effectively work with the portfolio support team to process renewals while gathering up to date financial, personal, and business information for an accurate file
  • Escalate operational risk to Business Services Manager
  • Process Accountability from package creation until Credit Decision.
  • Gather necessary information for submittal to Underwriting, including validation of appropriate and critical data to decision for each loan has been received and provided to credit department prior to loan being decisioned.
  • Coordinate information needed for Underwriter to render a recommended decision and final decision from Credit Committee.
  • Support on document collection for assigned portfolio for Loan Reviews.
  • Assist with customer inquiries related to their accounts.
  • Actively participate in manager meetings, peer groups, and other leadership forums.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Understanding of policies and regulations.
  • Preliminary knowledge of commercial banking and ability to analyze financial information.
  • Demonstrates confidence, assertiveness, and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Attentive to follow-ups and taking initiative.
  • Ability to understand and interpret deal structures and legal documents.
  • Exceptional time management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills with knowledge and ability to learn new company computer systems to increase transparency and communication with borrowers and lenders.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Applications.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1 yearsโ€™ experience working in a business lending/credit department.
Preferred:
  • Experience working in a multi-process team which supports the delivery of customer services and processes.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant regulatory and statutory obligations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with particular focus on process mapping, report generation and data analysis.
