DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- The Waste Champion will lead development of process improvement projects related to plant waste reduction. His/her role will be to help create an environment that promotes continuous improvement, reduces process pain points and encourages employee empowerment to reduce process waste. The Waste Champion will develop and provide relevant and up to date statistical data and analysis to managers and employees. The Waste Champion will work closely with employees, managers and other support staff to facilitate team efforts, bridge specific knowledge gaps and maintain continuous focus on plant process improvement and process waste reduction.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE- High school diploma or GED. Related college degree and/or appropriate technical courses or Associate's (A.A.) degree Minimum 3 years' experience in related field. Corrugated experience is preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS- Ability to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of algebra and geometry along with basic math (adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing).

REASONING ABILITY- Should have the ability to comprehend and identify waste streams in the plant's processes. Should be able to recognize and prioritize focus areas for waste reduction.

TECHNICAL SKILLS- Ability to gather information and perform root cause analysis and problem solving. Ability to create reports for review by upper management. Ability to lead teams in waste reduction efforts. Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Corrugated experience preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS- The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee is sometimes required to use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, and crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT- The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS - Performance measures include, but are not limited to, plant shrink reduction. Maintain close measured waste to shrink variance.
