Position Summary...The Senior Manager of Search is responsible for operating, maintaining, and evolving the search platform and experience of the eCommerce business. He or she will help drive and support daily operational executional asks related to helping members find the items they’re looking for. They will work extensively and actively within our team and with our key stakeholders to drive a strategy to deliver a holistic and seamless online search & discovery experience. They will collaborate with our Digital Merchandising, Product, and Advertising Platform partners to ensure that search experiences are optimized, while supporting & implementing personalization algorithms and AI-assisted experiences to drive middle-funnel performance and the best member experience outcomes.
We are looking for an experienced and highly-specialized eCommerce operations professional with proven know-how on building and operating PLP experiences, search platforms, search algos, and product and for large-scale eCommerce businesses. Not only that, he or she needs to demonstrate strong strategic and analytical prowess, being able to drive product and algorithm development/roadmap discussions, as well as having the leadership mindset capable of balancing multiple stakeholders and partnering with them to find shared win-win outcomes.What you'll do...
  • Support and manage on site search platform including researching trends, troubleshooting bugs and fixing sub-optimal search PLP experience issues 
  • Manage and drive usability and evolution of in-house platform and manual intervention platform tools, including boosting, redirects, and other actions; liase between Product & Engineering as well as Digital Merchandising to drive effective build-out of search algorithm optimization to reduce manual interventions over time 
  • Support and manage Search system and business metrics; work with analytics to build and maintain performance dashboards as well as support hypothesis-building of opportunities to boost performance such as add-to-cart and conversion rate 
  • Support and implement personalization signals and experiences within the search experience. Drive usage and engagement of personalized search results, and complementary product suggestions and carousel/modules 
  • Test & learn while building Gen-AI & Agentic-AI powered experiences into the search experience, leveraging semantic & conversational prompts to boost search & discovery of Sam’s Club’s best products  

 

Required Qualifications:  
  • At least 5 years experience operating and managing an eCommerce site operation, focused on transactability, discoverability, and optimizing the buy funnel 
  • At least 2 years experience supporting and managing an internal site Search & discovery engine and platforms, driving and influencing business and product strategy with Product & Engineering partners  
  • Proven analytical capability and mindset, quarterbacking AB Test-and-learn, displaying comfort with large data sets, building performance analyses, and deriving actionable insights with metrics such as add-to-cart, conversion, and engagement rate 
  • Comfortable working in highly matrixed environments, weighing and balancing stakeholders, and making high-stake prioritization decisions
