The objective of this position is to serve as an outsourced Chief Financial Officer for public schools and as a team leader for the in-house accounting team. The School Business Manager will work with school leadership and serve as an expert on all things related to school business. The successful candidate will effectively manage, establish, control, optimize and direct all support activities for multiple clients and ensure the implementation of the business support function & strategy. Provide engagement and team management, accounting management, grant management and human resources management. This position will be responsible for effectively overseeing the entire engagement, serving as an expert in school business to the client and client retention.
The successful candidate is comfortable multi-tasking to manage multiple deadlines and changing priorities, eager to learn new technologies and willing to follow procedures, works well and gets along with others, understands the value of high-quality customer-centric service, and can remain professional under difficult circumstances. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the operation of the business office in such a way as to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal requirements.
Education:
1. Required: Bachelor's Degree in accounting
2. Preferred: Master's Degree in accounting. MBA and/or a CPA
Experience:
1. A minimum of 2 years in School Business Office or similar environment and/or
2. A minimum of 4 years of experience in a supervisory accounting role
Technical Requirements:
1. Proficient using business software (e.g., MS Windows, MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel, Adobe PDF, etc.)
2. Proficient using computer equipment and associated peripherals (e.g., computers, laptops, scanners, printers, smart cell phones, etc.)
3. Proficient in Cloud computing environment (e.g., MS Office 365, online banking, online storage, etc.)
4. Familiarity with accounting concepts and terminology.
5. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft computer programs (advanced knowledge of Excel, pivot tables, formulas, etc.)
6. Knowledge of database structures, data verification methodology, operating systems, standard software applications.
7. Knowledge of payroll accounting.
8. Knowledge of schoolAbility, Visions and/or AptaFund software highly desirable.
Other Requirements:
1. Ability to pass employment verification and background check
2. Ability to sign non-compete agreement
3. Ability to travel occasionally and work non-standard hours to attend board meetings
4. Ability to work on-site and occasional travel within NM.
