Clean Harbors, Norwell, MA is looking for a Business Intelligence Manager to join their safety conscious team! The Business Intelligence Manager is responsible for helping to continue to improve margins across all lines of business including portfolio review and working capital. Partners with the business leaders to provide high quality and influential financial analysis and support to strategic decisions under consideration. Supervises technical and business support staff enabling quick response to business needs that can be leveraged throughout the organization from executives to branch personnel. Bridges business and financial analysis with data and business intelligence tools to provide actionable information to management.

Responsibilities
Data Accuracy, Quality & Validation (Core Focus)
  • Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of all BI reporting and analytical outputs.
  • Perform data validation, reconciliation, and testing to confirm alignment across source systems and reports.
  • Identify data quality issues, investigate root causes, and partner with stakeholders to resolve discrepancies.
  • Support best practices for data governance, documentation, and metric definitions.

Business Intelligence & Reporting
  • Design, build, and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI, SQL, and Excel to support financial and operational decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain core KPIs and performance metrics used across Finance, Operations, and Leadership.
  • Automate recurring reports and improve reporting efficiency and consistency.
  • Respond to ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Financial & Operational Analysis
  • Perform trend and variance analysis at the consolidated, district, and branch levels.
  • Analyze monthly and quarterly P&Ls to support profitability and performance reviews.
  • Participate in Monthly and Quarterly Operating Reviews by preparing data, reports, and analytical insights.
  • Support labor utilization, T&M billability, and profitability reporting.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication
  • Work closely with Finance, Sales, Operations, and Leadership to gather requirements and align on reporting needs.
  • Translate complex data into clear, concise insights for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Document reporting logic, assumptions, and data sources to ensure transparency and repeatability.

Project & Initiative Support
  • Support BI, operational, and financial analysis projects by gathering data, performing analysis, and preparing insights.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to reporting accuracy, efficiency, and usability.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, data analytics, or financial/operational analysis.
  • Strong SQL skills, including:
    • Joins, CTEs, window functions, subqueries
    • Temporary tables and basic performance optimization
  • Strong Power BI experience, including:
    • Dashboard and report development
    • Data modeling, DAX, Power Query (M)
    • Basic performance tuning and optimization
  • Proficiency in Excel for data analysis and reconciliation.
  • Highly detail-oriented with a strong focus on data accuracy and validation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communicator with the ability to explain data and insights to non-technical audiences
  • Results-oriented mindset with a continuous improvement focus
