Position Summary

Reporting to EVP, Global Customer Experience, the Marketing Manager, Theatrical serves as Sony Pictures Entertainment's primary marketing representative in Puerto Rico and is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and performance of theatrical marketing initiatives across the territory.

Based in San Juan, this role operates with a high degree of autonomy and serves as the local market expert, partnering closely with Home Office teams including Marketing, Sales, Exhibitor Relations, and Finance. The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and executing localized marketing strategies that maximize theatrical performance, strengthen exhibitor, media, and promotional partner relationships, and enhance consumer engagement for Sony Pictures releases.

This position oversees campaign execution, publicity, promotions, market intelligence, and operational coordination while ensuring marketing investments deliver measurable business results. As the primary Sony Pictures representative in Puerto Rico, the Marketing Manager serves as a trusted business partner, providing strategic market insights and representing the studio with professionalism and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing Strategy & Campaign Management

  • Develop and execute localized marketing strategies for theatrical releases in Puerto Rico, aligning with Sony Pictures' global objectives.
  • Plan, implement, and monitor integrated advertising campaigns across traditional and digital media platforms.
  • Coordinate and implement promotional partnerships, media promotions, and consumer campaigns that increase awareness and audience engagement.
  • Manage marketing budgets, forecasts, purchase orders, invoices, and campaign expenditures while ensuring effective cost control.
  • Evaluate campaign performance, market trends, and emerging media opportunities, and recommend optimizations to maximize audience engagement and box office performance.
  • Communicate market insights, campaign results, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership and support strategic business initiatives as assigned.

Publicity, Promotions & Partnerships

  • Lead local publicity efforts, promotional campaigns, and consumer activations and strategic partnership programs to support theatrical releases.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with media, promotional partners, advertising agencies, influencers, exhibitors and key industry stakeholders.
  • Coordinate press junkets, media interviews, screenings, premieres, special events, promotional appearances and fan activations, including Comic Con participation.
  • Coordinate and implement promotional contests, cross-promotional opportunities, trade partnerships, and synergy initiatives that extend campaign reach.
  • Track media coverage, awards opportunities, and publicity participation while ensuring effective execution of local PR initiatives.
  • Manage local Sony Pictures social media channels in accordance with corporate guidelines.

Sales & Market Support

  • Partner with Sales and Exhibitor Relations to support theatrical release strategies and exhibitor engagement.
  • Coordinate and attend trade screenings, to gather market intelligence and exhibitor feedback to support release planning.
  • Monitor competitive activity, consumer trends, box office performance, providing regular market analysis and recommendations.

Operations & Logistics

  • Coordinate the ordering, distribution, tracking and inventory management of theatrical marketing materials, trailers, standees, posters and exhibition assets.
  • Oversee relationships with distribution partners, warehouses, and exhibitors to ensure timely delivery and proper implementation of marketing materials.
  • Support operational readiness for theatrical releases, screenings, premieres, and promotional events.
  • Coordinate with Finance to support monthly reporting, advertising reconciliations, vendor payments, purchase orders, and financial close activities.

Education, Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Cinema, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in marketing, promotions, or related industry experience.
  • Experience managing integrated marketing campaigns from planning through execution. Experience managing external agencies, vendors, and cross-functional projects.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and verbal).
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
