Job Summary
Tenaska Marketing Ventures (TMV) is seeking a highly analytical and technically skilled Senior Business Intelligence Analyst who is passionate about creating and delivering business intelligence solutions that strengthen reporting, improve transparency, and support data-driven decision making across the organization. This role combines advanced technical expertise with strong commercial understanding to anticipate analytical needs, translate complex or ambiguous business challenges into actionable insights, and deliver scalable, trusted reporting solutions.
Serving as a trusted advisor to TMV leadership, commercial teams, customers, and technical partners, the Senior Analyst helps shape analytical priorities, influences cross-functional decisions, and leads complex reporting and analytics initiatives from concept through delivery. Success in this role requires advanced SQL and reporting-platform expertise, strong knowledge of data architecture and governance, sound business judgement, and the ability to navigate ambiguity, influence stakeholders, and communicate complex information clearly while providing technical direction.
Location: Onsite in Omaha, NE
Essential Job Functions
  • Lead the analysis and interpretation of pricing, customer, performance, benchmarking, and organizational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities and provide actionable recommendations that inform business decisions and priorities.
  • Serve as a consultative partner to business and technical stakeholders by framing complex or ambiguous needs, challenging assumptions, defining priorities, and translating business requirements into scalable reporting, process, policy, and system solutions.
  • Develop expert knowledge of proprietary system interfaces, workflows, and data dependencies to design reliable methods for extracting, reconciling, integrating, and validating data across systems and resolving complex data-quality and reporting issues.
  • Design, optimize, and govern complex data extraction and transformation processes across databases, data warehouses, and enterprise data platforms to create accurate, reusable, and scalable datasets for reporting and analytics.
  • Lead the development lifecycle for complex, business-critical reporting and business intelligence solutions, establishing technical approaches and ensuring solutions meet performance, security, governance, quality, and stakeholder requirements.
  • Design, optimize, test, document, and review complex SQL queries and data logic used in production reporting and analytical solutions, proactively addressing performance, accuracy, and maintainability issues.
  • Architect, develop, deploy, maintain, and continuously improve business-critical reports and dashboards using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Tableau, and related tools.
  • Lead the identification, validation, and promotion of trusted data into the data warehouse, partnering with business and technical teams to establish quality controls, address data gaps, and support reliable enterprise reporting and analytics.
  • Establish and maintain reporting governance practices for business-critical solutions, including metric definitions, validation controls, data lineage, documentation, access, change management, and ongoing quality monitoring.
  • Manage and prioritize concurrent reporting and analytics initiatives by evaluating business value, technical complexity, dependencies, data risk, and resource constraints; communicate tradeoffs and adjust delivery plans as priorities change.
  • Build trusted partnerships across operations and technical functions to anticipate analytical needs, align priorities, and deliver solutions that improve commercial and operational performance. Develop and deliver role-based training and guidance that enable users to accurately interpret data, effectively use reporting and analytics tools, and responsibly expand self-service analytics.
  • Provide technical direction, constructive feedback, and mentorship to less experienced team members while promoting consistent standards for analysis, development, testing, documentation, and stakeholder delivery.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, AI-enabled capabilities, and automation opportunities; lead controlled pilots and recommend responsible adoption when solutions improve reporting quality, efficiency, scalability, or business value while meeting security and governance expectations.

Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Data Analytics, or a related discipline; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Five or more years of progressive experience in business intelligence, data analytics, reporting, or a related technical field, including independently leading complex analytical projects in dynamic or unstructured environments.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS SQL, with experience designing, optimizing, testing, and troubleshooting complex queries for production reporting and analytical solutions.
  • Experience independently designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing scalable business intelligence solutions using platforms such as Tableau and SSRS.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, and visualization.
  • Experience evaluating and applying AI-enabled analytics or automation to improve reporting or business processes while maintaining appropriate data quality, security, and governance standards.
  • Strong understanding of commercial and operational needs, with the ability to identify analytical opportunities, translate complex data into actionable insights, and influence cross-functional decisions.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills, with the ability to build effective relationships, provide a high-level of service, and work with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Self-motivated and highly organized, with strong documentation skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary to complete time-sensitive work on schedule and at the highest quality
  • Reliable, dependable, and predictable attendance

Preferred Requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of relational database structures, dimensional modeling, data warehousing, data lineage, and data access patterns, with the ability to troubleshoot data quality, performance, and integration issues.
