Under limited supervision, plans, directs, and implements the Town of Moncks Corner’s economic development, redevelopment, business recruitment, and revitalization initiatives. The Economic Development Director serves as the Town’s primary economic development professional and leads efforts to attract private investment, facilitate redevelopment projects, recruit and retain businesses, support commercial growth, and advance strategic economic development priorities established by Town Council and the Town Administrator. The position also serves as Executive Director of Corner Renaissance, Inc., coordinating redevelopment and revitalization initiatives that support the Town’s economic development objectives. Reports to the Town Administrator.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSDuties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Economic Development, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Business Administration, Real Estate Development, Finance, Marketing, or a closely related field, supplemented by advanced professional training and four (4) or more years of progressively responsible experience in economic development, community development, planning or other relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Preferred QualificationsPhysical Requirements: Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable functional, structural or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things.
Interpersonal Communications: Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving directions to co-workers and receiving direction and instruction from supervisor.
