We are partnering with a growing, employee-owned (ESOP) mechanical contractor that delivers high-quality commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, and service solutions across the Southeast.

Position Overview


The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new project opportunities while strengthening existing client relationships.

This role works closely with estimating, preconstruction, and operations teams to ensure successful project pursuits, seamless execution, and exceptional customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities


Business Development & Revenue Growth

  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities with general contractors, developers, owners, and facility managers
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers
  • Drive revenue growth and achieve sales targets


Client Engagement & Market Presence

  • Lead client meetings, presentations, and pursuit strategies
  • Represent the organization at networking events, trade shows, and industry associations
  • Enhance brand visibility across target markets


Collaboration & Project Pursuit

  • Partner with estimating and preconstruction teams on proposals and budgets
  • Support contract negotiations and project acquisition efforts
  • Ensure smooth handoff to operations teams

Pipeline & Performance Management

  • Track and manage opportunities through CRM tools
  • Maintain accurate forecasts and activity reports
  • Consistently meet or exceed revenue and margin goals


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or account management within:
  • Mechanical contracting (HVAC, plumbing, piping), or
  • Commercial construction / MEP industry
  • Proven track record of generating revenue and closing deals
  • Strong understanding of the construction lifecycle and delivery methods
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills


Preferred Experience

  • Established relationships within commercial and/or industrial markets
  • Experience with design-build, negotiated, and plan/spec projects
  • Familiarity with estimating, preconstruction, or project management processes
  • Experience with CRM tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar)
