BLOOMINGTON MARKET PRESIDENT
BLOOMINGTON, IL
First State Bank and Trust is seeking a Bloomington Market President. The Bloomington Market President serves as the strategic and operational leader for the bank's Bloomington and Heyworth markets. This role is responsible for driving business development, managing loan and deposit portfolios, overseeing market operations, and representing the bank within the community. The Market President ensures compliance, fosters a culture of excellence, and leads a team of professionals to achieve financial and service goals.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
  • Develop and execute continuous sales management plans including prospecting, pre-call planning, and sales-focused outreach.
  • Maintain and report the sales pipeline to leadership.
  • Meet or exceed loan goals and work with the Branch Manager and Head of Retail Banking to meet or exceed deposit production goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key business clients and prospects.
  • Promote deposit and treasury products; refer clients to other business lines (e.g., ag lending, trust/wealth, mortgage).

Community Engagement
  • Serve as the face of the market through active involvement in nonprofit boards, industry groups, and public speaking engagements.
  • Represent and promote the bank's brand at community and business events.

Credit & Loan Management
  • Participate in loan committee processes and collaborate with credit teams on loan write-ups.
  • Analyze credit requests and negotiate terms with loan and deposit customers.
  • Oversee pre-closing loan responsibilities and support compliance audits.
  • Manage loan portfolios including renewals, modifications, and collection of past due loans.
  • Oversee close consumer loan production and support applications (auto, unsecured, home equity).

Financial Oversight
  • Review monthly market financial reports and prepare annual budgets.
  • While delegating the daily overdraft / NSF decisions, monitor significant balance changes.

Property & Facilities Management
  • Participate in Condo Association, representing the bank and the banks interest and obligations.
  • Oversee bank property maintenance, inspections, and vendor contracts (e.g., janitorial, landscaping, HVAC, signage).

Leadership & Compliance
  • Lead and mentor market lenders, fostering professional development and portfolio management.
  • Implement business plans to achieve profitability targets.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain high-quality loan assets.
  • Exercise executive control over market operations, staff development, and policy implementation.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in banking or financial services.
  • Proven leadership experience in banking or financial services.
  • Strong understanding of credit analysis, loan structuring, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, facilities, and staff.
  • Active community involvement and commitment to local engagement.
