ABOUT OUR MISSION:
Optics 1 is a provider of electro-optical and geo-positioning systems, specializing in hand-held and vehicle mounted systems. Optics 1 has a world-class line of products with expanding research, development, manufacturing and service capabilities in the United States.
POSITION PROFILE:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for business development and sales growth in the military and government segment with primary focus on promoting and selling innovative solutions for military critical needs and advanced Navigation and EO/IR products.
RESPONSIBILTIES:
  • Responsible for Business Development of Optics 1 products and capabilities for Mounted Navigation and Targeting to the US market, including land, rotary / fixed wing aircraft and maritime applications.
  • Identify and understand current operational missions, gaps, and roadmaps within the US DoD and defense primes relative to the market segment.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of customer program requirements, current and future opportunities, organizational structure and key decision-makers in the US DoD, defense primes and associated supply chain.
  • Lead capture pursuits; understand price to win and competitive analysis to increase win probability.
  • Prepare and conduct senior level presentations and demonstrations to US DoD program offices, defense primes and associated supply chain.
  • Sell advanced Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) and stabilized EO/IR sights.
  • Knowledgeable of market and industry trends, competitors, and leading customer strategies.
  • Provide strategic roadmaps that match and enhance Optics 1 and affiliate product portfolios.
  • Articulate product needs to product development and executive staff as required.
  • Achieve targeted sales growth goals.
  • Be a subject matter expert of all Optics 1 and affiliate solutions supporting the US Mounted Navigation and Targeting market.
  • Understand and clearly articulate Optics 1 value proposition for the US Mounted Navigation and Targeting market.
  • Up to 50% travel required.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
  • A minimum of five to ten (5 - 10) years' experience in the inertial navigation and/or electro-optics business area with a strong background in marketing and selling to the US DoD, defense primes and supply chain.
  • Thorough understanding and familiarity of the defense acquisition processes
  • Visionary Leadership - Display passion and optimism. Inspire, respect, trust and mobilize others to fulfill the vision. Provide vision and inspiration to peers and subordinates.
  • Strategic Thinking - Develop strategies to achieve organizational goals and understand organization's strengths and weaknesses. Analyze market and competition and identify external threats and opportunities. Adapt strategy to changing conditions.
  • Motivation - Set and achieve challenging goals. Demonstrate persistence and overcome obstacles. Measure self against standard of excellence.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Microsoft Project and Excel.
  • Proven track record in developing and meeting forecasts.
  • Prior military service is a plus but not required.
  • Requires U.S. Citizenship

IDEALLY, YOU'LL ALSO HAVE:
  • Technical B.S. degree is desired but can be substituted with proven skills in marketing and selling technical products in the past.
  • Experience working in an ITAR environment
