The Business Development Officer develops new business relationships, expands existing customer relationships, and serves as a trusted financial advisor to businesses throughout Vision Bank's markets. This position is responsible for driving commercial deposit growth, treasury management adoption, fee income, and quality lending opportunities through relationship-based, needs-based sales.

The Business Development Officer serves as the primary relationship manager for assigned business customers by understanding each customer's business, identifying opportunities, recommending financial solutions, and coordinating internal resources to deliver an exceptional customer experience. Success is measured through relationship growth, customer retention, community involvement, and meaningful contributions to the Bank's long-term growth and profitability.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develop new business relationships through proactive prospecting, referrals, networking, community involvement, and outside business development activities.
  • Build and manage long-term relationships with business customers by understanding their operations, financial needs, goals, and challenges while serving as their primary banking contact.
  • Maintain an active sales pipeline by identifying, qualifying, documenting, and following up on business opportunities through the Bank's CRM and established sales process.
  • Conduct regular relationship reviews to identify opportunities to expand services, strengthen customer relationships, improve profitability, and establish Vision Bank as the customer's primary financial institution.
  • Actively manage an assigned portfolio of business relationships by maintaining regular customer contact, identifying growth opportunities, mitigating attrition risk, and ensuring each relationship continues to meet the evolving needs of both the customer and Vision Bank.
  • Recommend and coordinate business banking solutions, including commercial deposits, Treasury Management services, ACH, Wire Services, Positive Pay, Remote Deposit Capture, Merchant Services, Commercial Digital Banking, Fraud Prevention, Business Bill Pay, cash management, and other financial solutions that improve customer efficiency and cash flow.
  • Identify commercial and consumer lending opportunities and partner with lending teams to deliver complete financial solutions while maintaining the overall customer relationship.
  • Collaborate with Retail Banking, Commercial Lending, Treasury Management, Operations, Digital Banking, Mortgage, Wealth Management, and other internal departments to ensure seamless customer experiences and timely execution of customer needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with business owners, attorneys, accountants, real estate professionals, insurance agents, Chambers of Commerce, economic development organizations, and other centers of influence to generate referrals and strengthen Vision Bank's market presence.
  • Represent Vision Bank through active participation in community organizations, networking events, civic activities, and economic development initiatives.
  • Provide proactive communication, timely follow-up, and professional relationship management that strengthens customer loyalty, retention, and overall relationship value.
  • Ensure all customer relationships, documentation, and activities comply with applicable bank policies, regulatory requirements, and federal and state banking laws, including completion of required compliance training.
  • Exercise sound judgment by identifying, communicating, and helping mitigate risks that could impact customers, employees, or the Bank.
  • Continuously expand banking knowledge, product expertise, and business development skills to better serve customers and support Vision Bank's strategic objectives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Vision Bank's Core Values in every customer interaction, business decision, and internal partnership.
  • Identify and report risks that could impede the reputation, safety, security, compliance, or financial success of the Bank.
Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in business banking, commercial banking, treasury management, commercial lending, business development, or business-to-business sales preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, banking experience, and demonstrated business development success may be considered.
