Job Summary

The Assistant Branch Manager supports the Branch Manager in the day-to-day leadership of branch operations, staff, and customer service delivery at Local Bank's Huntsville location. This role may supervise branch personnel, ensures compliance with bank policies and applicable banking regulations, drives sales and referral goals, and steps in to manage the branch in the Branch Manager's absence. The ideal candidate combines strong people leadership with hands-on banking operations experience and a commitment to delivering an excellent customer experience.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Branch Manager in overseeing daily branch operations, ensuring adherence to bank policies, procedures, and applicable banking regulations
  • Supervise, coach, and develop branch staff, including tellers and customer service representatives, providing ongoing feedback and performance management
  • Assist with onboarding, and training of new branch employees
  • Ensure the branch consistently delivers a high standard of customer service, resolving escalated customer issues and complex transactions as needed
  • Support and help drive branch sales and referral goals by cross-selling deposit accounts, loan products, and digital banking services
  • Oversee teller line operations, including cash handling, balancing, vault management, and dual-control procedures
  • Support compliance with BSA/AML, Regulation CC, Regulation E, and other applicable banking laws and regulations
  • Open new accounts as needed
  • Conduct periodic branch audits and help maintain strong internal controls
  • Serve as the branch's primary point of contact and manager in the Branch Manager's absence, including opening and closing responsibilities
  • Monitor branch security procedures, including safe deposit box access and dual-control compliance
  • Prepare and review branch operational, sales, and compliance reports
  • Represent the bank in the local Huntsville community through business development and community involvement activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field preferred

Experience

  • 3-5 years of retail banking or branch operations experience required, including supervisory or lead experience
  • Experience with Jack Henry SilverLake core and/or Banno online banking preferred, but not required
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting sales, referral, and service goals

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of banking regulations, teller operations, and deposit/loan products and services
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving ability, particularly with escalated customer situations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive customer and bank information

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Standard branch/office environment
  • Monday-Thursday, 8:00am-4:30pm, Fridays 8:00am-5:00pm
  • Occasional work outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required to support customers, attend company events, or meet operational needs
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs (e.g., cash bags, coin, supplies)
  • Regular attendance during standard branch hours is required
