Job description

Position Summary

This role supports Marten Transport's sales, marketing, and business development initiatives. This position partners with employees at all levels of the organization, including executive leadership, to develop professional customer-facing materials, manage strategic projects, support customer onboarding, complete customer RFI/RFP responses, maintain business analytics, support key sales and marketing systems, and drive operational excellence through training and process improvement.

This role requires an individual who is highly analytical, exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, creative, and capable of managing multiple priorities while consistently producing polished, high-quality work under tight deadlines.

Essential Responsibilities

Sales, Marketing & Design Support

  • Create, maintain, and continuously improve sales presentations, marketing materials, customer proposals, and executive presentations.
  • Use PowerPoint, Canva, and other design tools to develop professional, visually compelling materials.
  • Ensure customer-facing materials are accurate, visually consistent, brand compliant, and up to date.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Executive Leadership to effectively communicate Marten's capabilities.
  • Support social media initiatives, including development and coordination of content, graphics, announcements, and other materials as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining consistent branding across presentations, marketing materials, social media, and other communications.

Sales Technology & System Administration

  • Provide administrative support for Marten's CRM, including maintaining data quality, user support, reporting, and basic system administration.
  • Assist with CRM updates, user training, process documentation, and adoption of sales processes and tools.
  • Serve as an administrator and internal resource for SlideHub, including maintaining presentation libraries, templates, approved slides, and other shared content.
  • Help ensure sales and marketing systems contain accurate, organized, and current information.
  • Support implementation and improvement of tools and technology used by Sales, Marketing, and Business Development.

Customer RFI/RFP Management

  • Complete customer Requests for Information (RFIs), Requests for Proposal (RFPs), sustainability questionnaires, security surveys, and other customer documentation.
  • Coordinate information gathering across departments.
  • Maintain a centralized library of approved responses and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure submissions accurately represent Marten's capabilities and competitive strengths.

Project & Deadline Management

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while tracking milestones and critical deadlines.
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts to ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
  • Proactively communicate project status and escalate issues when necessary.

Executive & Cross-Functional Support

  • Work directly with executives and leaders across all business functions.
  • Support strategic initiatives through research, data analysis, reporting, and presentation development.
  • Prepare executive-ready reports, dashboards, and presentation materials.

Customer Onboarding

  • Support new customer implementation activities.
  • Coordinate onboarding documentation and internal readiness.
  • Assist in developing customer implementation materials and training resources.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Develop and maintain analytical reports using Excel and other reporting tools.
  • Analyze operational and sales data to identify trends, opportunities, and performance metrics.
  • Produce recurring and ad hoc reports for leadership.
  • Support CRM reporting, dashboards, and sales activity analysis.

Training & Process Improvement

  • Develop training materials and documentation.
  • Train and cross-train employees on systems, processes, and best practices.
  • Provide user support and training for CRM, SlideHub, and other sales and marketing tools.
  • Maintain standard operating procedures and continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency and consistency.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint skills, including professional presentation design.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, formulas, charts, and data analysis.
  • Experience with Canva or similar graphic design/presentation software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Experience supporting corporate social media or digital marketing initiatives.
  • Experience creating professional graphics, presentations, or marketing materials using Canva or related design software.
