Job Summary

The Business Data Analyst supports the governance, execution, and continuous improvement of pricing activities and data-driven decision-making across the organization. The role analyzes sales data, leads pricing initiatives, validates customer and product pricing, and provides actionable insights to Sales, Marketing, Finance, R&D, Customer Service, and IT.

This position requires strong analytical skills, logical thinking, process discipline, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working with large datasets, able to translate business needs into structured analysis, and capable of supporting strategic commercial decisions through reliable recommendations and validated assumptions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and prioritize pricing requests from business stakeholders.
  • Analyze customer, distributor, product, net price, discount, and margin data.
  • Prepare, validate, and maintain pricing files for price increases, customer updates, distributor requests, and system uploads.
  • Lead pricing implementation for Canadian and U.S. organizations, including timelines, dependencies, customer files, communications, and system readiness.
  • Develop pricing scenarios and recommendations based on sales, costs, duties, freight, exchange rates, market benchmarks, customer rules, market conditions, and commercial objectives.
  • Investigate and resolve pricing discrepancies, exceptions, missing list prices, customer net price issues, and pricing system errors.
  • Maintain pricing trackers, issue logs, approval records, documentation, and pricing history.
  • Support process mapping and documentation for pricing workflows, including special quotations, SPA/discount processes, price maintenance, price increases, and ERP pricing logic.
  • Collaborate with IT, Finance, R&D, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service to ensure pricing data is accurate, complete, and properly implemented.
  • Conduct market and distributor analyses using internal data, distributor websites, competitive pricing tools, and external sources.
  • Support leadership through dashboards, reports, presentations, KPIs, and business insights.
  • Identify process gaps, recurring pricing issues, data-quality concerns, and opportunities to improve governance and automation.
  • Document assumptions, data sources, approvals, decisions, and final outputs to improve traceability and reduce recurring errors.
  • Support business analytics platforms including Sigma, ERP systems, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Tecsys, Salesforce, and competitive pricing tools.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Data Analytics, Economics, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in business analysis, commercial analytics, finance, sales operations, or data analysis.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and large dataset management.
  • Experience with ERP, CRM, BI, pricing, or data management systems.
  • Strong ability to analyze SKU-, customer-, distributor-, and product-level data.
  • Experience with pricing implementation, price increases, customer-specific pricing, SPA/discount structures, or margin analysis is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Sigma, Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI tools.
  • Ability to interpret business requirements, validate assumptions, and deliver reliable analysis under tight timelines.
  • Strong documentation, process mapping, issue tracking, and business communication skills.
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial distribution, B2B sales, or multi-channel distribution is an asset.
  • Full professional proficiency in English is required due to regular interaction with international stakeholders. Professional proficiency in French is a strong asset.
