Job description

We are seeking an experiencedย PTC Windchill Application Managerย to lead the implementation and deployment of Client's newย Infrastructure Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)ย platform based on PTC Windchill.

This role supports a strategic transformation initiative to modernize Client's infrastructure engineering ecosystem by implementing a scalable enterprise PLM platform that integrates with Product Master Data Management (MDM), sourcing, procurement, manufacturing, and downstream execution systems.

The successful candidate will provide end-to-end application leadership for the implementation program, coordinating business stakeholders, engineering teams, system integrators, and vendors to ensure a successful production deployment.

The existing application team currently supportsย PTC Windchill, Modello, and Master Data Management (MDM)ย while simultaneously managing six active workstreams. This dedicated role provides the capacity required to execute the new PLM implementation without impacting ongoing production support and business commitments.

This is aย project-based implementation roleย with clearly defined milestones, production go-live objectives, and transition criteria. Following successful deployment and production stabilization, steady-state application ownership will transition to the permanent application team, concluding the engagement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Infrastructure PLM Implementation Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end implementation of the new Infrastructure PLM platform using PTC Windchill.
  • Develop and execute implementation plans aligned with business milestones and deployment timelines.
  • Coordinate all phases of the implementation lifecycle, including:
    • Requirements validation
    • Solution design
    • Configuration
    • Integration
    • Data migration
    • Testing
    • Deployment
    • Hypercare
    • Transition to operations
  • Ensure successful delivery within agreed scope, schedule, and quality objectives.
  • Drive readiness for production deployment and operational acceptance.

2. Application Management

  • Provide functional and technical leadership for the Windchill implementation.
  • Coordinate configuration of:
    • Product structures
    • Part management
    • Engineering Change Management
    • Lifecycle management
    • Workflows
    • Security
    • Access controls
  • Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture and engineering standards.
  • Review solution quality and implementation deliverables from internal and vendor teams.

3. Integration & Enterprise Readiness

Coordinate implementation and validation of integrations between Windchill and:

  • Master Data Management (MDM)
  • Modello
  • ERP platforms
  • Sourcing systems
  • Procurement applications
  • Manufacturing systems
  • Downstream order execution
  • Enterprise analytics platforms

Responsibilities include:

  • Integration planning
  • Interface validation
  • Data synchronization
  • Error resolution
  • Cutover coordination
  • Production readiness

4. Program Delivery

  • Develop and manage detailed implementation schedules and milestone plans.
  • Track risks, issues, dependencies, and action items.
  • Facilitate cross-functional planning sessions and status reviews.
  • Coordinate implementation across engineering, infrastructure, data, security, and business teams.
  • Manage implementation governance and executive reporting.
  • Escalate critical issues and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure alignment with overall Infrastructure PLM roadmap.

5. Testing & Deployment

  • Coordinate System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and production validation.
  • Oversee defect management and release readiness.
  • Ensure completion of all deployment prerequisites.
  • Lead cutover planning and production go-live activities.
  • Coordinate production support during hypercare.
  • Validate achievement of implementation success criteria.

6. Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage implementation partners and third-party vendors.
  • Coordinate activities across engineering, PLM, MDM, sourcing, procurement, manufacturing, and infrastructure teams.
  • Facilitate design workshops and implementation reviews.
  • Provide executive updates on progress, risks, financial status, and milestones.
  • Drive issue resolution across multiple organizations.

7. Operational Transition

  • Define operational readiness criteria.
  • Develop support documentation, knowledge articles, and operational runbooks.
  • Coordinate knowledge transfer to the permanent application support team.
  • Ensure successful transition of ownership following production stabilization.
  • Validate completion of all project exit criteria.
  • Support formal project closure activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of enterprise application management or implementation experience.
  • 5+ years supporting or implementing PTC Windchill solutions.

  • Completion of all testing, deployment, and operational readiness activities.
  • Stable production environment throughout the hypercare period.
  • Successful knowledge transfer to the permanent application support organization.
  • Achievement of all predefined project exit criteria.
  • Seamless transition of steady-state operations to the designated application owner.
  • Zero disruption to the team's existing production responsibilities during implementation.
  • High stakeholder satisfaction with implementation quality and delivery.

Business Justification

The Infrastructure PLM implementation is a strategic initiative that introduces a modern PTC Windchill platform to support Client's growing engineering and product lifecycle management requirements.

The current application team is responsible for supportingย PTC Windchill, Modello, and Master Data Management (MDM)ย while simultaneously deliveringย six active workstreams. Assigning the new implementation to the existing team would significantly increase delivery risk and jeopardize both production support and project timelines.

This dedicated Application Manager will provide focused leadership for the implementation, ensuring successful planning, execution, testing, deployment, and production stabilization. The engagement is structured as aย time-bound implementation role, with clearly defined deliverables, a production go-live milestone, and explicit exit criteria. Following successful stabilization, ownership of steady-state operations will transition to the designated permanent application manager (Vijay), at which point the implementation engagement will conclude.
