Job description

HIRING: Business Analyst – Advanced | State of South Carolina
Location: Columbia, SC – Fully Onsite
Contract: 12 Months | Possible Extension
Engagement Type: Contract – W2.
Full-Time: ~40 hours/week
✈️ Light travel to County offices/facilities throughout Spartanburg County.


The State of South Carolina is seeking an experienced Business Analyst – Advanced to support a major Cybersecurity Program & Documentation Recovery initiative.


Key Responsibilities:
• Lead discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews, and workshops
• Inventory and assess existing IT, security, infrastructure, application, and recovery documentation
• Document current-state processes, workflows, roles, dependencies, and handoffs
• Create process maps, workflow diagrams, inventories, matrices, and other BA artifacts
• Identify documentation gaps, process risks, and single points of knowledge
• Gather and prioritize requirements for SOPs, runbooks, knowledge articles, and recovery documentation
• Collaborate with Technical Writers and technical SMEs
• Maintain documentation backlogs, priorities, ownership, and dependencies
• Support documentation standards, governance, templates, and review cycles.


Required Qualifications:
✅ 10+ years of Business Analysis experience in complex IT/technology environments
✅ Strong requirements elicitation, interviewing, facilitation & stakeholder management
✅ Advanced Microsoft 365 experience – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint
✅ Strong Microsoft Visio experience for process/workflow/technical diagrams
✅ Experience working with technical SMEs across infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, service delivery, or related IT areas
✅ Bachelor's degree in IT, Information Systems, Business, or related field OR equivalent professional experience.


Preferred:
• Documentation recovery / knowledge management / process standardization
• Cybersecurity, infrastructure, disaster recovery, BCP, or ITSM documentation
• SharePoint documentation repositories & governance
• ITIL, NIST, CIS, or similar frameworks
• Government or highly regulated environment experience
• CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, PMP, or ITIL Foundation.


Important Candidate Requirement:
Candidates must be current SC residents or willing to commute/relocate to South Carolina at their own expense before starting.
