Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior-Level Business Analyst (BA3) to lead business analysis activities for the modernization and full rewrite of enterprise .NET applications. The Business Analyst will serve as a critical bridge between business/program teams and software development teams, ensuring alignment, clarity, and traceability from requirements intake through final delivery.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in requirements gathering, legacy system modernization, application architecture, cloud technologies, and working with cross-functional teams including development, operations, security, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead elicitation, documentation, analysis, and validation of business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
  • Facilitate interviews, workshops, and working sessions with business teams, subject matter experts (SMEs), and technical teams.
  • Develop detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and business requirement documentation.
  • Document current-state workflows, system dependencies, integrations, and operational processes.
  • Design future-state workflows aligned with modernization objectives and .NET architectural changes.
  • Create process maps, decision trees, workflow diagrams, and other business process models using Visio and similar tools.
  • Support data migration planning by documenting data models, business rules, and transformation logic.
  • Develop quality-of-service (QoS) and non-functional requirements covering areas such as performance, scalability, security, usability, and reliability.
  • Create report specifications including report purpose, business justification, attributes, data elements, ownership, and runtime parameters.
  • Provide support for QA testing, UAT coordination, defect triage, and validation of fixes.
  • Ensure system behavior aligns with documented requirements and business expectations.
  • Communicate project status, risks, issues, and decisions to project managers and leadership teams.
Required Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of application architecture, modernization strategies, and application rebuilding approaches.
  • Experience with technologies and concepts including:
    • Azure Functions
    • APIs
    • SQL Server
    • .NET Core
  • Experience analyzing legacy systems and integration points to determine modernization paths.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies, microservices architecture, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Experience using project and portfolio management tools such as:
    • Clarity PPM
    • Azure DevOps
    • SharePoint
    • Other enterprise operational systems
Required Experience
  • 7 8+ years of relevant Business Analyst experience preferred.
  • Experience working on projects involving:
    • Legacy system migration
    • Application modernization
    • System refactoring
    • Enterprise application transformation
  • Experience leading collaboration across development, operations, security, and business teams.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and process modeling skills.
Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor s degree in one of the following areas:
    • Information Technology
    • Computer Science
    • Engineering
    • Business with a technology focus
  • Required: At least one Business Analyst certification from IIBA.
  • Agile/Scrum certifications are a plus.
