Description
Position Summary
This position is responsible for troubleshooting and performing repairs on-site Hydro-excavation trucks, over-the-road trucks, and/or bus repair jobs.
Position Duties/Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Performs scheduled services and repairs on OTR and hydro-excavation trucks or buses (engines, drivetrain, chassis, electrical, hydraulic systems) in the field using proper tools and procedures
  • Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and efficiently; work orders, service reports, allocation of time, and tracking parts
  • Maintain customer satisfaction by ensuring customer needs and deadlines are met
  • Complete all scheduled repairs in a safe and efficient manner
  • Follow all safety and contamination control rules and regulations
  • Adheres to all safety rules and maintains quality housekeeping in the work area
  • Maintain company-issued equipment and vehicles per company policy

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • No formal responsibility for supervising others

Position Requirements
Required:
  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent work experience
  • 3 years or more of mechanical experience with diesel engines and/or in a position with a working knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, and drivetrain repairs
  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred:
  • 5 years or more experience with hydro-excavation trucks (Hi-Vac experience is a plus)
  • 5 years or more experience with diesel engines (Caterpillar or Cummins is a plus) and/or in a position with a working knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, and drivetrain repairs
  • Medium/Heavy Duty Cummins Engine Certification
  • Commercial driver's license or ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of power train, diesel engines, and electrical systems
  • Strong communication skills, including verbal, written, and listening skills.
  • Strong multitasking abilities, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Professional demeanor with both internal and external contacts, including personal appearance and friendliness, courteous treatment of peers and people at all levels inside and outside the organization
  • Strong computer skills experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and the ability to learn CAT/MacAllister/Michigan Cat systems
  • Ability to build and maintain effective customer and professional relationships through strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on relationship-building and consistent demonstration of solid professional judgment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed
