Job description

Position Summary - Bus Driver

(Hours - 6:30A - 8:30A  & 2:00P - 4:00P)

Under the direction of the Center Manager, the bus driver will be responsible for transporting assigned children, parents and staff on routes on a daily basis according to specific time schedules. Transportation activities include but not limited to: transporting participants to and from the primary child care centers, field trips, extracurricular activities and other locales as required.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Bus Driver provides safe, efficient transportation and provides support to the center as needed.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

Behavior Standard – 50% of Position

  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.

Attendance Standard

  • Maintains excellent punctuality and attendance

Fundamental:  Day to Day Activities

  • Transports children, parents, and staff in a safe manner to and from the primary childcare centers, field trips and other designated locals.
  • Performs maintenance and safety checks on a daily basis in accordance with ESNG transportation plan
  • Reports all accidents to ESNG supervisors and other proper authorities in accordance with policies
  • Provides first aid and emergency assistance to children/adults as needed.
  • Completes daily operational data sheets, submits as required

Communications/Public Relations

  • Attend meetings as needed with center manger and field operations manager to review policies, procedures and their implementation
  • Promote ESNG and its values and mission

Monitoring

  • Completes a weekly report for the Center Manager and Field Operations Manager

Record Keeping

  • Maintains all necessary documents
  • Organize and submits all invoices

Compliance

  • Follows all appropriate regulations related to proper operations of school buses

 

Learning and Growth

  • Participates in all mandatory Easter Seals trainings to include pre-service, in-service and other educational programs and trainings
  • Completes the minimum number of training hours required by DHR, OSR, Georgia Pre-K and Head Start

 

OTHER DUTIES:

Performs other duties as required by management.

Note: A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required for this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Bus Driver:

A High School Diploma or equivalent

Valid State of Georgia, Commercial Driver's License (CDL), P&S endorsements

Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must pass the Drug Test.

Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the assigned functions responsibly.
  • Must possess effective communications skills..
  • Must possess a satisfactory MVR report..
  • Must provide the Field Operations Manager with a Motor Vehicle Report yearly.
  • Must maintain yearly physical and drug screening requirements .
  • Must be able to attend night meetings, and travel out of the area as necessary.
  • Must possess the ability to move/lift children up to age five (5).
  • Must possess the ability to perform basic first aid to children.
  • Must possess basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
