Job Description: Investment Banking Associate Industrials

Location: New York, NY Sector: Global Industrial & Environmental Services

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Associate to join our premier Middle Market Investment Banking team in New York. This role focuses on providing strategic advisory services, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), capital raising, and financial restructurings for companies within the Industrials sector.

As a key member of our deal teams, you will work closely with senior bankers and client executives, taking a lead role in the execution of complex transactions while mentoring junior analysts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transaction Execution: Lead the day-to-day management of deal processes, including sell-side and buy-side M&A, private placements, and corporate divestitures.

  • Financial Modeling: Oversee and perform advanced valuation analyses, including discounted cash flow (DCF), leveraged buyout (LBO), trading multiples, and transaction precedents.

  • Marketing Materials: Lead the creation of high-impact pitch books, confidential information memoranda (CIMs), and management presentations.

  • Due Diligence: Manage the due diligence process, coordinating between clients, legal counsel, and potential investors/buyers.

  • Sector Coverage: Maintain up-to-the-minute knowledge of Industrials sub-sectors (e.g., Aerospace & Defense, Building Products, Chemicals, and Industrial Technology) to identify market trends and new business opportunities.

  • Mentorship: Actively train and manage Analysts, ensuring high-quality output and fostering professional development within the team.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 3–6 years of investment banking experience, ideally with a focus on Industrials or a related coverage group.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field (MBA preferred for Associate-level applicants; required for VP-level without significant tenure).

  • Technical Skills: Mastery of financial statement analysis, complex modeling, and Excel. Strong proficiency in PowerPoint is essential.

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts to C-suite executives.

  • Work Ethic: A "self-starter" mentality with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

  • Licenses: Series 79 and 63 certifications (preferred or required upon hire).
