As a key member of the Civil Construction leadership team, the General Superintendent will be based in the company's main office and oversee field operations across multiple projects, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and profitably. This role will provide direction to Superintendents, Foremen, and field teams while partnering with executive leadership and project managers to strengthen field capabilities, improve project performance, and support continued company growth.

The ideal candidate brings extensive heavy civil construction experience and a strong understanding of field operations, construction methods, and production. Success in this role requires sound judgment, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to develop teams while driving operational excellence across multiple projects.

RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Provide strategic oversight of field operations across the company's heavy civil construction portfolio, aligning priorities, resources, and execution plans to support successful project delivery.
  • Evaluate project performance, identify risks, and implement solutions that enhance productivity, quality, safety, and overall results.
  • Oversee workforce planning, hiring initiatives, and leadership development efforts to build a strong pipeline of Superintendents, Foremen, and field professionals.
  • Manage resource planning, including equipment utilization and workforce allocation, to maximize efficiency and support project demands.
  • Establish and implement field operating standards, construction processes, and best practices to drive consistency, accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and executive leadership to align project planning, resources, and execution strategies with company goals.
  • Champion a culture of safety by reinforcing company expectations, supporting safety initiatives, and driving continuous improvement throughout field operations.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years of heavy civil construction experience, preferably within highway, earthwork, grading, utility, or infrastructure construction
  • 3+ years of proven success leading and developing Superintendents, Foremen, and field personnel across multiple projects
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing large-scale civil construction operations with accountability for safety, schedule, production, quality, and overall project performance
  • Thorough knowledge of heavy civil construction means and methods, production planning, equipment utilization, and field execution.
  • Ability to improve operational processes, optimize resource utilization, and establish consistency across multiple projects.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills with project managers, field teams, clients, subcontractors, and executive leadership.
