Job description

We are looking for a Building Engineer to join the Halo Sports and Entertainment team! The Building Engineer performs the following skilled and technical duties for Intuit Dome and the Kia Forum: installing, maintaining, replacing, repairing, operating, or assisting in operating all heating and ventilation equipment, engines, motors, emergency generators, pumps, air compressors, ice and refrigeration machines, air conditioning units, fans, fan coils, kitchen equipment, solar and back-up battery systems, microgrid controller, CMMS and BMS systems, and preventive maintenance on all building systems. Employees in this job class shall comply with all federal, state, city, and local ordinances. This job class requires comprehensive knowledge of installed equipment maintenance/service and requires you to work independently in a safe and efficient manner.
This is a full-time role based in Inglewood, CA and is eligible for our competitive benefit offering including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan with company contribution, Well-Being Allowance, and more. The scope of this position encompasses a 24-hour, 7 day a week operation with the transition of numerous daily events. Due to the nature of this industry, the candidate must be available to work a flexible and rotating schedule including weeknights, weekends, and holidays to cover high profile concerts and NBA games.
What you will do:
  • Performs operation, maintenance, installation, replacement and repair of:
    • All water and air source heat pumps, valves, appurtenances, and lines used in the distribution of heated or processed water.
    • Refrigerant compressors, condensers, evaporators, traps, transfer pumps, expansion valves, stop valves and float valves, together with all refrigerant lines and devices used to control temperature, and air conditioning systems in their entirety.
    • Air compressors, together with distribution lines and all valves and devices for air control.
    • Water filters, water softeners, brine systems, piping, and pumps used in conjunction with water distribution, including all sinks and toilet bowls, including all supply lines, drains, waterlines, control devices and sprinkler systems.
    • All types of electrical motors and engines used to power pumps, compressors, and fans.
    • All electrical work, installation, inspection, and repair.
    • All emergency generator systems.
    • Building automation systems for HVAC, including consoles, data gathering panels, remote sensors and indicating devices.
    • Sanitary sewer systems, sump pumps including basins, water closets, urinals, and piping.
    • Building plumbing, sewer, and ejector pump systems.
    • All kitchen equipment except where this type of equipment is serviced and maintained by specialized contractors.
    • All life safety related equipment.
  • Through knowledge and abilities to interpret blueprints for all building layouts. (Electrical, Plumbing, Duct, Structural)
  • Through knowledge of electrical and electrical safety. Voltage ranging from 24v - 460v. Able to perform LOTO correctly.
  • Researches and solicits vendors for repair parts and preventative maintenance parts for stationary equipment.
  • Maintain electronic records of equipment performance and analyze to enhance system performance and equipment longevity.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Your Background Skills and Experience:
  • Four years of journey-level experience operating, maintaining, and repairing HVAC/heat pump equipment or a combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities of a Universal EPA 608 certification.
  • Operation of and training in Building Automation Systems (BAS), Central Utility Plant (CUP) operations preferred; Knowledge of the methods, tools, and equipment used in the repair of heating and air conditioning equipment in buildings and structures.
  • Through knowledge of operating principles, efficiency optimization practices, and compliance requirements of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Ability to use computerized energy management software.
  • Ability to recognize and locate conditions which require repair and maintenance work.
  • Knowledge of the tools necessary to fulfill the duties of the engineer, including special equipment necessary to operate, install, maintain, and repair equipment.
  • Computer literacy to use business software, the Internet, enter data/retrieve data.
  • Demonstrated customer service, problem solving and commonsense skills.
  • Ability to learn, contribute and thrive in a fast-growing, dynamic environment.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
  • Able to read, write and take directions in English.

Essential Functions of the Job (Physical Requirements & Working Conditions)
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach overhead and horizontally as needed to perform job duties.
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs and work safely at various heights, including top of stairways, when required.
  • Ability to work in confined or enclosed spaces, including elevators, when required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, coworkers, and supervisors in person and through radio or other communication devices.
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments. Outdoor work may include exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, humidity, and direct sunlight.
  • Ability to work in environments with elevated noise levels, crowds, and vibration typical of live sporting events and entertainment venues.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Compensation
  • Compensation range for this role is $46.00 - $50.00 per hour. Compensation package offered will be based on multiple individualized factors, including a candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
