The Materials Manager is responsible for end-to-end materials execution, ensuring the timely availability of raw materials, components, and subassemblies to support demand and production plans. With a heavy focus on Sales & Operations Execution (S&OE), this role drives day-to-day alignment between demand, supply, and capacity while proactively managing constraints, shortages, and risks to customer service and operational performance.

As a Materials Manager, You will:

  • Lead the S&OE process, translating S&OE and SIOP plans into executable, short-term supply and materials actions

  • Facilitate weekly/daily S&OE meetings to resolve demand-supply imbalances, shortages, and priority conflicts.

  • Own exception management, escalation, and rapid decision-making to meet AOP/QCR targets and plan.

  • Provide clear supply commit dates and recovery plans for at-risk orders.

  • Ensure material availability aligns with master production schedule and near-term demand signals.

  • Balance service, inventory, and cost through effective inventory strategies and maintenance of accurate planning parameters in ERP system (PFEP, Safety Stock, ROP's, MOQ's).

  • Identify and mitigate material constraints, supplier risks, and lead-time variability.

  • Partner closely with Sales, Customer Service, Production, Procurement, Project Management, Logistics, and Finance.

  • Communicate risks and impacts to stakeholders with clarity and urgency.

  • Use data and scenario analysis to drive execution decisions and continuous improvement.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or related field (equivalent working experience in materials management may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • 7+ years of experience in materials management, supply planning, or production control.

  • Demonstrated leadership of S&OE/SIOP processes.

  • Experience managing teams in a manufacturing or complex supply environment.

  • Experience with product launches

  • Experience managing engineering changes and working with suppliers to make those changes happen.

  • Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, NetSuite); Oracle Flora experience would be a plus.

  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

  • APICS/ASCM certification

  • Experience operating within a formal SIOP/S&OE framework.

  • Background in an Engineer-to-Order (ETO) manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.

Schedule

Assembly operates on a 4-day, 10-hour work-shift schedule. Salaried employees who are not front-line supervisors work five days to support this arrangement. They can choose between working extended hours from Monday to Thursday with a half day on Friday, or they can opt for full eight-hour workdays from Monday to Friday.

About Our Location

Our 2-building campus offers a safe and clean work environment with a "family" atmosphere. We manufacture new semi-hermetic compressors and take the worn-out, failed compressors out of the field and remanufacture them to "like new" status, as well as manufacture crank shafts. Approximately 200 employees work in Rushville and are an integral part of our organization. A 2-building campus allows for learning and growth opportunities for all our team.
