Lumber & Building Materials Sales Project Internship
Location: Fort Wayne, IN
Level: Intern
Division / Department: Lumber & Building Materials
Reporting to position: Director of LBM Operations
Summer 2027 - 90 day internship
About the Role:
The Sales Project Intern will support strategic sales and business development initiatives within the Lumber & Building Materials Division. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in sales analytics, customer engagement strategies, market research, and business process improvement.
Responsibilities include:
  • Creating dashboards on our data analytics platform: taking a business case and building out reports/dashboards in the system that provide a complete and concise data story.
  • Participate in an Operational Excellence Project: Work with our Operational Excellence team on a project that incorporates Six Sigma/Lean Skills: This project may include a lumberyard layout, a lean analysis of business processes, or a manufacturing process review at a roofing truss or door manufacturing facility.
  • Participate in a product line review with our Millwork and Interior Solutions Division: This project will include product evaluation, cost and pricing analysis, and development of sales tools for the product.

Education and Experience:
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Marketing, or related field
  • Must be highly organized, driven and ability to manage multiple projects at once

Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
