Job description

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Degree in Facilities Management or related field (preferred) - preference will be given to candidates with broad experience in field of buildings and grounds maintenance.
  • Broad knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, heating, and cooling principles and systems.
  • Skill in the organization and supervision of maintenance and custodial staff.
  • Ability to get along with people and promote leadership skills.
  • Budgeting skills and knowledge of state statutes and regulations relating to buildings and grounds.
  • Strong computer skills


RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Assist with the operation and maintenance of all school buildings and grounds.

2. Monitor and make recommendations on daily operations.

3. Assist in the purchase and inspection of all operating supplies and materials related to buildings and grounds.

4. Interviews and recommendations for employment all school plant operating and maintenance personnel and, likewise, recommend either retention or dismissal of personnel in this area.

5. Assist with the custodial services, which may include the following:

A. Visit and inspect school buildings monthly.

B. Cooperate with principals in the supervision of custodial staff.

C. Operating an in-service program for personnel with a view toward preventive maintenance and economical use of materials, and proper cleaning practices.

D. Approving work orders for repairs to individual buildings.

E. Keeping adequate physical property records of inventory and service equipment.


6. Assist with maintenance services which may include the following:

A. Approving work orders for repairs to individual buildings.

B. Assigning work to maintenance staff.

C. Periodically monitoring of work orders completed.

D. Set up a preventive maintenance program.

E. Keeping adequate physical property records of inventory and service equipment.

F. Recommending when to bring in an outside contractor.

G. Planning and supervising summer maintenance.

H. Planning and supervising grounds job.

I. The location and purchase of repair parts for all building equipment owned by the school.

7. Assist with effective procedures for the receipt, storage, and security of maintenance and custodial supplies and equipment.

8. Assist with the preparation of facilities for special events such as football playoffs, special 4th of July celebrations, graduation etc.

9. Keeps records, develop forms, make inspections and submit reports for I.O.S.H.A.

10. Assist in developing compensation and fringe benefits for maintenance and custodial personnel.

11. Keep necessary records to furnish statistical and cost data required to prepare reports of the school system with reference to buildings, grounds and construction projects

12. Respond to emergency calls pertaining to buildings, either from building personnel or the local police department.

13. Assist with the removal of snow and application of salt to surfaces during the winter.

14. If necessary, when requested, attend School Board meetings as directed by the Superintendent

15. Perform other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the Superintendent or Chief Financial Officer

16. Routinely meet with administrators to develop maintenance and service priorities and to discuss maintenance and custodial services.
