Job description

NOVA Engineering & Environmental is seeking an experienced Building Envelope Business Unit Manager to lead and grow our Building Envelope practice based out of our Kennesaw, Georgia headquarters. This group provides building enclosure consulting services throughout the state of Georgia and across the Southeast.

The Building Envelope Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and strategic growth of the Building Envelope group. This role oversees technical execution, staff development, quality control, financial performance, and client relationships, while actively supporting business development and market expansion efforts. The successful candidate will balance technical excellence with people leadership and client development, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, profitably, and in alignment with NOVA’s standards and values.

Job Description:

  • Provide overall operational and technical leadership for the Building Envelope group, including planning, staffing, growth strategy, profitability, cost control, and resource allocation

  • Lead, mentor, and develop technical and professional staff through training, performance management, and career development

  • Establish and maintain consistent QA/QC standards for reports, field services, and deliverables

  • Monitor workload, utilization, and financial performance to meet department and company goals

  • Coordinate with other NOVA business units to support cross-disciplinary collaboration and company-wide objective

  • Provide senior-level technical oversight for building envelope services, including roofing, waterproofing, façade systems, and enclosure performance

  • Review and approve technical reports, opinions, and recommendations prior to client issuance

  • Provide expert consultation related to constructability, system integration, durability, thermal performance, moisture control, sustainability, and long-term maintenance of building envelope systems

  • Support and lead business development efforts, including client meetings, presentations, and market outreach
  • Prepare and review proposals, scopes of work, and contract documents
  • Assist with project billing, collections, and financial forecasting
  • Identify opportunities for expanding services and geographic reach within the Southeast
  • Prepare and review technical reports, correspondence, and documentation in a clear, professional manner
  • Ensure compliance with NOVA policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements

    Required Qualifications:

    • Minimum 10+ years of experience in building envelope, enclosure, or roofing consulting

    • Strong technical knowledge of building construction and enclosure systems

    • Proven ability to identify and resolve constructability, integration, design, troubleshooting, durability, thermal performance, and moisture-related issues

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with strong report-writing capability

    • Valid State Driver’s License with a clean driving record

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA)

    • Industry certifications such as:

      • Registered Roof Consultant (RRC)

      • Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC)

      • Registered Roof Observer (RRO)

      • Certified Infrared Thermographer (CIT)
